Production Engineer

Salary - Up to £35,000 - £40,000 per annum depending on experience

Location – Sittingbourne, Kent (changing to Aylesford by year-end)

Benefits – 25 days annual leave per year, discount scheme, contribution pension, optician vouchers and many more benefits

Hours – Full-time Monday to Friday, 8:30 am–4.30 pm (40 hours)

Benefits – Company pension, 20 days annual leave + Bank Holidays

 

 

 

We have an exciting opportunity in Sittingbourne for a Production Engineer to work for one of our clients. Our client specialises in the design, manufacture, and distribution of ventilation systems. They are well established and their name is synonymous with quality and excellent customer service. In this role you will be working full-time.

 

Responsibilities for the role of Production Engineer

 

  • Identify manufacturing requirements for new products in development.
  • Design innovative systems and processes, ensuring facilities and methods support the cost-effective integration of new/improved products into manufacturing operations.
  • Proactively consider all plant and equipment requirements from initial product conception to the end product.
  • Conduct value engineering for existing products and processes. Identify opportunities and generate capital expenditure proposals, justifying return on investment.
  • Assist in creating shop floor and manufacturing cell layouts.
  • Design fixtures and tooling for assembly tasks.
  • Generate production documentation, including assembly instructions, standard work methods, and work instructions.
  • Support the tender process for plant and equipment to ensure specifications meet the best quality for the best price.
  • Oversee the installation of machinery and equipment.
  • Enhance manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Lead continuous improvement, problem-solving, and process improvement activities within set budgets.
  • Investigate production and process issues, providing technical support and training.
  • Stay abreast of current and emerging engineering trends.
  • Contribute to and lead continuous improvement activities.
  • Prepare reports and present progress at project/internal meetings.
  • Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices/designs and identify future trends.
  • Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
  • Liaise and communicate with other departments, customers, suppliers, and other service providers. 

 

 

Skills and Experience for the Role of Production Engineer

 

 

  • Must hold a relevant qualification (engineering HNC or above).
  • The ability to use CAD/Inventor software is an essential requirement
  • Must have the ability to design processes and layouts to incorporate lean manufacturing.
  • A strong understanding of manufacturing processes and costs (ideally from a sheet metal background).
  • Understanding engineering and other technical information is a requisite skill for this job role.
  • Must possess good problem-solving skills and a logical approach.
  • The ability to plan and prioritise workload will be part of this role.
  • Must be a strong communicator with skills in both verbal and written areas.
  • Essential that the candidate understands Health and Safety practices.
  • Team player mentality is essential.
  • An understanding of customer expectations and deliverables.
  • Excellent Attention to detail.
