9 Month Contract

Milton Keynes

Hybrid with 2 days onsite per week

Salary  £28.66 - £33.41 per hour

Contract until December 2024

Our client delivers reliable power systems used in critical applications globally. Whether for data centres, on rugged job sites such as oil and gas fields, or as backup power for our homes, our clients technologies are trusted around the world. They are looking for a Product Engineer to join their team on a contract basis working full time.


Responsibilities for the role of Product Engineer

  • Manage the Design and Release of Electrical Components and Commodities across various Battery programmes.
  • Ensure that iDFMEA & Commodity Design Validation Plan, Engineering Specification, Standards (ESW), Design Rules & Guidelines, Requirements, and Statement of Work processes/documents are effectively implemented in the design condition at the appropriate design maturity gateways.
  • Establish robust timing plans to meet Program milestones and targets (Quality, Cost, Functionality, Weight, and timing).
  • Take the lead in issue resolution (FIRGS) and ensure all changes are robustly implemented to support program objectives.
  • Guide suppliers through the design phase, procure prototypes, and production tooling, ensuring components meet requirements.
  • Analyse & support technical requirements to assist customers within the constraints of manufacturing, sequencing, and optimised giveaway cost.
  • Contribute effectively to team goals, demonstrate influence within a work group, and continue to develop proficiency in the competency areas critical to success in the role.


 Skills required for the role of Product Engineer

  • Must hold a valid Bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering discipline with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • A proficiency in complex Electrical Distribution and Electrical Automotive Systems (Battery advantage) is desirable.
  • Essential to be proficient in utilising 2D/3D specific CAD tools; familiarity with PTC CREO would be advantageous.
  • Must be able to demonstrate experience in managing design through to production programmes and overseeing several parts across multiple Battery programmes.
  • A proven track record in specifying and designing automotive/battery pack low voltage, high voltage, and control hardware, including a comprehensive understanding of typical battery characteristics and required protective systems would be highly advantageous.
  • Ideally, familiarity with typical BEV and PHEV battery system solutions and technologies would be present.
  • Experience in Flexible Printed Circuit Board (FPCB) and laminated busbar design would be advantageous.
  • The ability to work both independently and within a cross-functional team is essential for the role.
  • Working knowledge of problem-solving techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills, self-motivation, and prioritisation abilities are a prerequisite for the role.
