Legal Secretary


Salary £23,700 per annum DOE

Hours - Monday - Friday 9 am to 5 pm

Benefits - 25 days holiday and bank holidays, non-contractual bonus scheme &  pension



Our client is a well-respected local firm of solicitors who have won multiple awards within their industry. 



Responsibilities of Legal Secretary



  • Execute all assigned tasks following the detailed procedures and quality standards outlined in the firm’s Office Manual
  • Attend to clients both in person and over the phone, providing professional and friendly support in alignment with the firm’s client care standards
  • Handle routine client inquiries and communications whenever possible
  • Foster positive working relationships within the firm and with external institutions and organisations
  • Maintain clear and precise communication with other firm personnel
  • Prepare correspondence and documents through audio typing and case management as needed
  • Administer filing, including daily filing and the opening, closing, storage, and retrieval of client files, following the detailed procedures in the Office Manual
  • Prepare mail and enclosures for dispatch
  • Perform or arrange for photocopying, faxing, and other relevant administrative tasks as required
  • Arrange appointments, schedule meetings, and maintain an up-to-date diary for the Principal
  • Provide support to reception as needed
  • Offer telephone support to partners and other staff members as required
  • Undertake other reasonable duties as required from time to time
  • Engage in specific training as required and take responsibility for self-development
  • Ensure the confidentiality of all firm and client documentation and information. 


 Person specifications for Legal Secretary



  • Must be an effective team player with strong communication skills, demonstrating sensitivity to and active contribution towards team needs
  • Needs to be a self-motivated individual who is adept at initiating and prioritising tasks autonomously
  • Ideally, be adaptable to the organisational requirements
  • Must possess a helpful, friendly, and professional demeanour
  • Ideally, demonstrates a high standard of interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to consistently project the image and ethos of the firm
  • Must be willing to contribute positively to the department and organisational direction over time
  • Previous experience in a conveyancing would be highly advantageous
