IT Service & Support Engineer

Location – Bromley, London

Salary - £25,265- £30,023 per annum DOE

Hours - Full-time

Temporary (6 week contract)


To enable learners with additional needs to access learning and college facilities and fully participate in general College activities, through the provision of literacy and/or numeracy support and general practical assistance in discrete and cross-College curriculum provision.   The role includes providing BSL interpretation and note-taking as required. To safeguard and promote the welfare of children.


Hours - Full-time, 37 hours per week, Flexible working is part of this post, which requires the service to be covered between 8 am to 8 pm Monday to Thursday and 8 am to 5 pm Fridays.



Responsibilities for the role of IT Service & Support Engineer


  • Carry out 1st & 2nd line IT support services that are delivered within operational levels
  • Provide support and guidance to apprentice engineers and service desk analysts where appropriate
  • Produce and maintain technical support documentation which covers all aspects of engineer-related support
  • Daily proactive IT checks in classrooms
  • Major contributor to the successful performance of operational targets
  • Provide excellent customer service and technical support for IT users across all campuses Travel to other sites will be required from time to time 
  • Document fixes, workarounds, configurations, recovery methods etc to promote and foster knowledge-sharing 
  • To work following the Data Protection Act and to ensure that all new systems are reported to the Data Protection Controller


Skills and Experience for the role of IT 2nd Line Service & Support Engineer


  • Must have experience with Microsoft server-based environments e.g. Windows 2012/2016, and Windows 10
  • A minimum of level 2 literacy and numeracy or willing to complete 
  • It is essential that you have a proven background in supporting Microsoft technologies
  • Demonstrates a high level of urgency and ownership when dealing with service-affecting issues is a must
  • Experience with HP/Cisco networks and VLANs
  • Must have an Enhanced DBS or be willing to do one
