Your Role

As the Senior Design Engineer, you will:

  • Lead Design Excellence: Develop innovative new products and optimise existing designs for cost-efficiency, performance, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with production, compliance, and quality teams to ensure seamless product delivery.
  • Mentor and Inspire: Provide leadership to a team of engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.
  • Drive Compliance: Ensure all product designs meet regulatory requirements and are documented to the highest standards.
  • Innovate and Improve: Leverage the latest materials, technologies, and industry trends to continuously enhance product offerings.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed 3D CAD models and technical drawings compliant with BS 8888 and ISO GPS standards.
  • Conduct Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) and optimise designs for manufacturability.
  • Oversee prototype creation and testing, making improvements based on performance results.
  • Lead design reviews, ensuring technical guidance and quality across all projects.
  • Manage engineering change processes, ensuring efficient implementation of updates.

 

About You

To excel in this role, you’ll need:

  • 5+ years of experience in product design, ideally for medium to high-volume manufacturing in a regulated industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Inventor, AutoCAD) and an in-depth understanding of BS 8888 and ISO GPS standards.
  • Expertise in DFMEA, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring skills, with a track record of delivering projects on time and to specification.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive, collaborative approach.

 

Desirable: Familiarity with fire safety regulations and industry certifications.
