Salary: £12.60 per hour

 

About the Role


Our client is seeking a motivated Animal Technician to support essential animal care and facility hygiene operations. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone eager to begin a career in this specialist field, working in a structured environment with full training provided.

Key Responsibilities


• Clean, sanitise and maintain animal caging and equipment
• Operate cage‑wash machinery, autoclaves and VHP systems
• Support animal technicians with daily husbandry tasks
• Ensure all work follows SOPs and safety procedures
• Dispose of waste safely and maintain high hygiene standards
• Clean, rebuild and sterilise isolators
• Carry out routine equipment checks and maintenance
• Assist with stock management and supply allocation
• Complete logs, records and inventories accurately
• Interact professionally with colleagues and customers
• Maintain a safe, tidy working environment
• Provide cover for team members when needed
• Launder facility clothing to strict biosecurity standards
• Participate in training and support quality improvements

 

About You


• Minimum 3 GCSEs (Grade D or equivalent)
• Able to follow detailed instructions with strong attention to detail
• Good communicator with a positive team-focused approach
• Able to work under strict hygiene conditions
• Experience with mechanical equipment beneficial
• Must be able to lift cages and have own transport
