Head of Retail

Canterbury, Kent (with travel across East Kent)

Salary: £52,000 - £58,034.27 DOE
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time (35 hours per week)

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced retail leader to join a well-established charitable organisation with a significant retail presence across Kent.

This senior leadership role is responsible for setting and delivering the retail strategy, driving sustainable income growth, enhancing operational performance, and developing a high-performing management team. You will lead through senior managers, ensuring accountability, collaboration, and commercial success across a diverse retail portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Develop and deliver the retail strategy and annual business plan
  • Drive sales, profitability, productivity and Gift Aid performance
  • Lead, coach and mentor the senior retail management team
  • Monitor budgets, forecasts and operational performance
  • Identify commercial growth and improvement opportunities
  • Provide strategic oversight of eCommerce and retail operations
  • Ensure high standards of customer experience and brand presentation
  • Oversee retail property, supplier and contract performance
  • Support workforce planning, recruitment and succession planning
  • Foster a positive and inclusive culture for employees and volunteers
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, financial and regulatory requirements
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

 

Requirements

 

  • Significant retail leadership experience within multi-site environments
  • Strong commercial awareness and strategic thinking skills
  • Experience leading and developing management teams
  • Ability to analyse performance data and drive improvement
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Kent
