Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer

Location: Kent
Hours: Sunday to Thursday Nights
Salary: Competitive + Overtime + Call-Out Allowance

 

Our client, a successful food manufacturing business, is seeking a Multi-Skilled 

Shift Engineer to support operations across two production sites.

The Role

You'll be responsible for maintaining production equipment and site services, carrying out planned preventative maintenance, responding to breakdowns, and helping to improve reliability across both sites.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete PPM and reactive maintenance
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults
  • Support utilities including steam, compressed air, refrigeration and electrical systems
  • Maintain bakery and packaging machinery
  • Record maintenance activities using CMMS
  • Support equipment upgrades, installations and projects
  • Conduct root cause analysis to reduce downtime
  • Participate in an out-of-hours call-out rota
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and food manufacturing standards

 

What We're Looking For

  • Engineering apprenticeship or recognised engineering qualification
  • Multi-skilled maintenance experience within manufacturing
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills
  • Experience with three-phase systems, motors, drives and pneumatics
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and schematics
  • CMMS experience
  • Full UK driving licence

 

Desirable

  • Food manufacturing, bakery or FMCG experience
  • PLC fault-finding skills
  • 18th Edition qualification
  • Boiler or steam systems knowledge
  • IOSH, HACCP or MEWP certification
