Do you have experience of social or community work with young people?

Are you an experienced Team Leader with knowledge of legislation relevant to Residential Childcare?

If so, we have an exciting opportunity in Sittingbourne for a Team Leader to work for one of our clients who provides tailored and caring residential care services to children and young people.

Our client is offering an excellent salary of £11.50 per hour and £60 for sleep-ins. If you were to work full time hours and 2 sleep-ins a week your salary would be circa £30,160 per annum.

As the Team Leader your responsibilities would include:

  • Understand the impact that the quality of care being provided is having on the development and progress of each child
  • Assist in the development of the home and practices
  • Support and undertake consultations with children and young people as well as other stakeholders
  • Support the recruitment, monitoring, training retention and training of staff
  • Act as a role model, portraying a positive and professional image
  • Provide cover for the Manager or Deputy Manager as appropriate
  • Undertake keyworker responsibilities for individuals
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, ensuring a homely, welcoming, and safe environment
  • Support management of admissions and discharges
  • Undertake audits and monitoring as required
  • Overnight stays for training and children’s holidays
  • Managing the petty cash system
  • Plan shifts and allocate tasks to staff as appropriate
  • Complete shifts and sleep-ins as per the rota
  • Ensure the provision of healthcare arrangements
  • Ensure the safeguarding of each child and young person
  • Understand trauma and the effect it has on an individual’s behaviour
  • Ensure that regular checks are undertake on company vehicles
  • Report any concerns to a line manager or appropriate person
  • Assist with any complaints, allegations or child protection concerns in line with safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Other duties as deemed reasonable

Person Specification:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare
  • Willing to undertake the Diploma 5 leadership and management or equivalent
  • Ability to listen and respond in a responsible appropriate manner with sensitivity. To motivate, assist and guide children, young people, and staff in their self-development
  • Knowledge and awareness of different models of intervention and ways of working with children and young people.
  • Knowledge of child development and the impact of childhood trauma
  • Understanding of the Ofsted regulatory framework in practice
  • Understanding of the principles of safeguarding practices
  • Full Driving Licence
  • Flexible approach to working hours
